This ones specifically for the Sci-Fi & Modern crowds who like to game near-future Earth conflicts. So who are your two favorite countries to pit against each other? At the moment for me, it Russia & China.

John the OFM said, "The US and Canada. I am still bitter that when they burned down the White House they didn't finish the job and go the the Capitol." I was reading Pierre Berton's The Invasion of Canada the other week at work and someone commented on the title. I told them that we'll get it right one of these times! Jason Stafford, VA To actually answer the question I vote for a 2nd Falkland Islands conflict. |

Hmmm Us vs Them? So many people at conflict in the world, it is unlikely that there will be too much teaming up
Being an American I will say USA and allies (UK, Canada, Australia, India, etc.) vs North Korea and allies (terrorists types). So rather than a large scale army vs army it would be a series of battles, clearing out terrorists, dealing with bombings, border skirmishes, etc. |
Top Gun Ace | 27 Sep 2010 12:24 p.m. PST |
USA vs. Mexico and Venezuela, after the drug lords take over there, and Hugo provides support. China vs. Japan – the #2 and #3 economies in the world, and currently having a bit of a tiff over sailors, disputed islands, and contractors with cameras. The Japanese finally released the captain of the boat that rammed their patrol boats, but now the Chinese are holding four Japanese hostage, and claiming they were spying. Supposedly, they are innocent contractors hired to do some work in China. China wants an apology, the Japanese want money for the damage to their boats, and both sides people are up in arms over the issue. Apparently, the Chinese have cut off shipments of materials to produce high tech items to Japan. China denies this. I doubt it will come to a full-blown war anytime soon, but look for some possible naval and air skirmishes in the region, and a lot more rhetoric. There's a lot of bad blood between them over WWII, and neither side will want to back down. |

While I prefer another, significantly less PC name* for it, Dirkadirkastan seems to be covering the ground pretty well. Other players I consider are a (re)fragmented China in civil war with some foreign "assistance". DPRK no longer exists in my universe, as the Chinese finally got tired of a loose nuclear cannon on their border and squashed the Kim Dynasty. It's just a starving, PRC client state with more stable leadership now (and RoK ed at China). That's for on-Earth gaming, though. Otherwise, it's PanOceania (Aussies, Kiwis, and Indian subcontinent, plus EU), versus Yu Jing (greater China), versus Ariadna (the last remains of US/USSR/France/UK), versus Haqqislam (a moderate Islamic state that is the center of medical research), versus the Nomads (misfits and dregs of humanity), versus Aleph and the O-12 (the single AI running the human sphere and the replacement for the UN), versus some aliens. All better known as Infinity! |

Meh. You could stick the entire population of Canada into Texas and nobody would notice. The USA is BIG, folks. |
Ambush Alley Games | 01 Oct 2010 5:28 a.m. PST |
Well, I suspect you might notice people starting to say, "How y'all doin', eh?" |
Lion in the Stars | 01 Oct 2010 10:27 a.m. PST |
Maybe. Somedays, I swear the average Texan is so drunk that he's incapable of walking a straight line (witness for the prosecution: Line Dancing!), so wouldn't notice the anglophones. Even completely intoxicated, I'm sure the average Texan would notice the francophones. |

I doubt the average Texan (Being one myself) would notice the Francophones, and if we did we would just assume their pale mexicans. |
