When did the Israelies change from silver to camo? I'm looking up the War of Attrition (sp) and I'm seeing images of both camo and siliver Miriages

Camo went on the Mirages in '69, the identification triangles in '73.

Nice link Dom.

Thanks for sharing.

Were the Israeli jets painted with the orange triangles at the start of the Yom Kippur War, or were they added during, or afterwards?

During I believe – going from memory here, but I seem to recall the hostile Mirages were a surprise when first encountered in Yom Kippur, so the ID markings were rapidly added to differentiate.

Hi Dom,

Thanks for the quick response.

I thought so too, but couldn't really remember.

I believe they were on loan (including pilots as well) from either Libya, or Algeria, or both.

Yeah, Libyan aircraft, so them turning up in Egypt was unexpected.
