Remember reading those awesome tales of high adventure and piracy during the Abbasid Caliphate? link Well, since the time this was last discussed back in 2008, has anyone tried to get suitable figures and ship? TMP link If so, what 15mm figures did you end up getting for Sinbad and his crew? What about the ship? Did you make one or buy one? What creatures did you get? What adventure(s) did you play? What rules did you use? Any pictures? Thanks, Dan P.S. By the way, this is the dhow ship I remember seeing in a National Geographic magazine a while back: picture |

Mini-Figs NY used to market a 15mm dhow with an Arab Conquest crew made of light foam that would suit. Someone may have one stuck in box somewhere, as I once did. I think I sold mine at Millennium several years ago but I'll check to be sure. |

Dan = Old Glory Shipyard, see Buccaneer Wars, BW15 for a ship. For figures, I would check with Old Glory 15s, in their Sudan range and think about Ansars. |

Minifig Barbary Pirates fom 4/2005 TMP post. Barbary 1 and 2 w/o firearms. Gun crew could probably be converted as well. link |

Ok, if anyone wants to create their own Sinbad crew . . . I went ahead and bought 3 packs of Old Glory 15s, took out a few figures, and just now posted the remaining figures of the sets on the 19th Century Marketplace. Thanks, Dan |

an old posting but I was wondering what rules you used? I hopeing to use these TMP link
I have these for the ships crew
these fellows for the co-stars and extras
maybe build my own Dhows. I have various Alternative Armies Hydras, Griffins, skeletons, Splintered Light Necromancers and Peter Pig Eagles. The Cyclops is proving a bit of a dilemma. I would like the Ral Partha fellow. The film version is 3-4 times the height of a crewman. The model seems to be 6 x. (being 28mm I would hope so.) So Him and the Splintered Light Fawns & Centaurs would be on the shopping list to make it happen.
oh and the Rebel Minis Sea witches. |

Thanks, Cacique, I found a copy of the National geographic on Ebay, now winging it's way to Oz from Ireland. Now to find a suitable ship in 28mm. |

The PP arabs are ok, a bit smaller than the Minifigs, The problem with the Minifigs (ALL their new stuff) is EVERYONE has their left foot forward.
oh and the Rebel Minis Sea witches are fantastic. |

Guys, Here is a drawing of the Sohar, a full sized replica dhow built and sailed as done during Sinbad's time:
This is the same ship featured in the National Geographic issue seen a few posts above. Here's another illustration of it:
