Hi Everyone – we've been quiet lately – but we've been hard at work behind the scenes!

Next week we are going to preview the sprues for our new WSS set!

Stay tuned!

Thanks,

Tony

It is August and someone promised me plastic WSS in August. Oh and flying cars as well. grin

I am looking forward to these. Probably 4-5 boxes on the first pop.

Fifty419 Aug 2010 7:32 p.m. PST

Well…sorry…it won't be in August, but close.

WEel that is great news also for our Koenig Krieg players who are looking at doing WSS. Siege Works Studios have been wotking on their La Guerre Du Roi set of rules for the WSS and GNW and these figures come at a great time! Good to see the 18th century being represented! :) Well done Tony!

Good deal! I'm very much looking forward to these.

Flying cars are a Christmas release. Jetpacks as well.

Great news. And the cavalry?

adster20 Aug 2010 4:41 p.m. PST

So the actual news is: there is no news :(

Pictors Studio20 Aug 2010 5:24 p.m. PST

No the actual news is that next week there will be sprues available to see from the upcoming WSS line. That counts as news to me. From what I can see it means that we will soon be able to get our hands on the finished product and that is something.

I believe the cavalry was slated to be released after the infantry and iff the infantry sells well enough.

Diadochoi20 Aug 2010 11:08 p.m. PST

Pictors Studio – I agree that seems to be the line "we will do cavalry if the infantry sells well enough".

However:

1) WSS cavalry reached the required 1000 sprues on the Liberty and Union League a long time ago, suggesting good sales.

2) For the WSS there was a high cavalry:infantry ratio i.e. you NEED lots of cavalry

3) Many people may be put off buying the infantry if there is nothing definate on the cavalry, you can't game WSS without cavalry i.e. no hard cavalry news => lower infantry sales => no cavalry get released

4) Other people may buy the infantry and then buy the cavalry from elsewhere. Then to have the style of cavalry to be consistent will carry on buying the cavalry from elsewhere (I am going to do a Napoleonic Austrian army with Victrix infantry when they are released later this year, but in the meantime I am painting the cavalry and artillery using Front Rank figures. To look consistent in style my plan is that ALL the cavalry I ever get for this army will be Front Rank). Hence not having firm news on the cavalry may well drive down future cavalry sales even if the infantry does well.

Sir William the Aged put together some fantastic proposals for WSS sprues on the WF forum that would cover all of the core forces in the absolute minimum number of sprues. It looked a very viable option for all concerned

WSS/GNW is a period I have always been interested in. I sold my huge 6mm collection 12 years ago as I needed the money urgently and a good, complete plastic line would get me back in a shot.

My painting plans are sketched out until Christmas, if by then the WF infantry look good AND we know cavalry are coming out 28mm WSS will become a major project. Otherwise I may well be one of those in point 3 above (I can't afford to do large scale WSS 28mm cavalry forces in metal unless I cut other projects and I am loathe to do that).

Hi Guys – yes, the new horses are all finished and ready for tooling and it is just a matter of doing the rider sprues for this. Bill's suggestions were fantastic.

Thanks again!
Tony
