murat.ca/maps.htm Is there anything close to this for America that could be used for an ACW campaign? |

link Try here, I don't know if you will find anything as nice as the site you listed. Those are really nice maps. |

I'd recommend using the maps from the Great campaigns of the American Civil War series of boardgames that was published by Avalon Hill. They are pretty neat hex maps with a fair amount of detail. I think the hexes represent 1 mile each. The maps, etc., are available online through Cyberboard. You can download Cyberboard (free) here: link And you can download the various "gameboxes" that contain the maps here: gcacw.com/cyberboard.htm Craig |

I don't know about on-line maps, but I have an excellent set (four maps approx 32" x 23" covering the the Eastern Theater – the entire east coast and as far west as the Eastern border of Texas up to Ohio), called The Civil War, and published by Emperors Press in 1991 (I believe they also came with some campaign rules). Unfortunately I have no idea if they are still available. |

There use to be a set of ACW campaign maps you could get from the old "Wargamers Digest (aka Military Digest)". I don't know where you can get them from now. But, there was a yahoo group, you might try there. This is a link to a previous TMP post link |

Thanks for the replies – the Military Digest has one map that is close to what I want
and I have a couple of old issues of the magazine around somewhere
I may dig them up to see if they are any use for the yahoo group. Is this the Empress Press mentioned?: emperorspress.com/index.html If so, there doesnt appear to be anything in print still, but if that is the same place, I will contact them to ask. |

shelldrake, I believe it is the same company, but I would guess they are out of print, they are almost 20 years old. |

As the creator of the maps originally referenced, I should say that I'm now starting to work on ACW maps (and coding up an ACW version of my Campaign system). This is going to be tricky because I am not very familiar with the ACW campaigns and it certainly won't be quick. Virginia (under construction) picture |

Not to nitpick on something still under construction, but it's spelled Centreville, like the French. I'd suggest that anyone very interested in ACW maps, acquire a copy of Battles and Leaders on CD. Expensive, but you'll never lack for source material. insmkt.com/battles.htm |

It is better to nitpick on something still under construction. Fixed. :) |

I also have a set of these maps printed on extremely heavy paper "I don't know about on-line maps, but I have an excellent set (four maps approx 32" x 23" covering the the Eastern Theater – the entire east coast and as far west as the Eastern border of Texas up to Ohio), called The Civil War, and published by Emperors Press in 1991 (I believe they also came with some campaign rules). Unfortunately I have no idea if they are still available." I am going to see if I can get these scanned into digital files and if not will do so with a video camera |
