Gentlemen, With the release of Regimental Fire and Fury and a pending supplement for the War of the Triple Alliance it does beg the question of what figures to use. This subject has been covered before, notably by Brian Bradford in the SACA wars egroup.(post #640). Using existing ACW and FPW figures most figures can be covered. Whilst Freikorps are a nice figure range, they are not modern multi-pose figures; no modern multi pose 18mm range of figures exists for the Paraguayans. Argentinean and Brazilian and to a certain extent Uruguayan troops can be completed using modern multi pose figure ranges such as AB figures and figures from Eureka's 18mm range of minis as well as others. The main protagonist is Paraguay and her army. Those troops have a unique look and are primarily composed of infantry types. The question therefore is, would anyone be interested in getting Paraguayan figures sculpted for the TAW? To make the range viable, individuals would have to commit to the purchase of figures. If one was to consider that a typical army in Fire and Fury (or any other game system) was around 60-70 stands, then a quantity in the order of 200 figures per person would seem appropriate. 4/5 of this would be infantry. I've had discussions with Eureka and if sufficient people committed this can be done; multiple figure variations of infantry, cavalry and artillery. If one were to include existing figures from John Fletcher's excellent Liberators range, quite a nice force could be put together. Is there any interest? Rolf

Be aware that Outpost has a range of 15mm figures for this war. Pendraken have them in 10mm. |

Outpost figures are for The Pacific War Armies 1879-84 (Chile, Bolivia and Peru). The Great Paraguayan War – Triple Alliance took place 1864-1870. Although I'm sure there wasn'y much of a uniform change. |

Hi Vincent, A mentioned, Outpost do a 15mm 'Great Pacific War' range – not a range for the WTA. I think we would need 10 people to commit to about a 200 figure per person purchase to get a nice selection of Paraguayan figures done (ie about 1200 figure sales to get the figures sculpted).
can we get there? |

Sorry Happy I am travelling for work just now and haven't revisited this thread for sometime. For Paraguyans I would think a selection in full uniform and then some for later battles wearing the leather kepi and maybe the kilt. I am half wondeing if a 28mm range might be doable 19th cent warfare seems to be in vogue again since Black Powder came out. Will mail you when I get home. Mike |

"Borders of Blood is a well-presented set of wargames rules, specifically for Wargaming the Parguayan War of 1864 – 1870, dovetailing almost exclusively with the War of Triple Alliance figure range by Perry Miniatures. Rulesets can either offer something so intriguing, inspiring, or unique that they cause you to venture into a new period – think SAGA, Sharp Practice, or Frostgrave – or they offer a service to gamers who are already ‘into' a period or conflict. Borders of Blood is definitely a solid entrant in this latter category." Joe Smalley review on Wargames Illustrated link |
