If you enjoy gaming near future earth wars involving actual current nations that exist (not hypothetical countries or aliens) then who are your favorite to game with? (For the purpose of this poll, I will accept some leeway as to future military forces such as a "Caucus Emirate" made up of several Islamic Caucus nations, a Slavic Balkan Coalition, the European Economic Community, the Commonwealth of Independent States, etc
). This should be obvious, but as always lets try to avoid the politics and stick to gaming potentials. |

Venezuela could be fun, or not, depending upon your point of view. Same goes for Mexico and Pakistan. Many others too, e.g. Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti, France, Canada
;-) |

Are you doing any of these yet? |

Expansionist Indonesia looks like a good option. Head North, gives you Asian opposition, head South, Australia, ots of naval options. |

PS. Depending on minis that come out this year, I am considering doing Russian/CIS vrs China in Khazakstan (15mm with either Force on Force or Ambush Alleys Sc-Fi game.). |

Singapore has got kick-ass armed forces for its size. By regional standards, they are high-tech, highly professional, by all accounts very well led, and have by far the best toys. They are taking delivery of a squadron of F 15SGs right about now – I think delivery and pilot/ground-crew training started in the states about 18 month ago. But they are small, live in a rough neighbourhood, and need to keep any fight as far away as possible from Singapore. Their potential opponents are nowhere near as highly trained, well-equipped, or by most accounts as well motivated or led. But there are lots of them, and they start a lot closer than Singapore would like. Could be some very interesting quality v quantity hypothetical battles with Indonesia. |

I think the Expansion of an Imperialistic China into Southeast Asia and the Russian Far East is a fertile ground for conflict in the near future. There is always the middle east, of course, since there has been basically constant low-level conflict for Millenia, with occasional flareups. |

Neo-Soviet is an easy pick. Almost a staple of the genre. |

No, but I'd like to paint up some Venezuelan Sukhois, since the paintjobs on those are excellent. Of course the coming "reunification" of Taiwan with China could prove very interesting. |

As a hypothetical game, that could be very interesting. As an upcoming event I am confident it will be just as militarily interesting as the reunification of China and Hong Kong, the reunification of China and Macao, or the reunification of the two halves of Germany. |

The Wars of Occitanian Liberation. Occitania with its Catalonian and Northern League allies attempt to break away from their parent nations. Lots of use for spare NATO equipment. |

With Afghanistan and Iraq likely to be strongly influenced by Iran after the US leaves both countries I could foresee near-future Iran being a fun "bad guy" to game with (vrs. Neo-Soviets or Neo-Nato). |

>>Of course the coming "reunification" of Taiwan with China could prove very interesting. As in "may you live in interesting times". But yes, China's invasion Taiwan is a very likely future war. |
