Hello, I missed the boat the first time Mongoose released Gangs of Mega City for the most part- I got the rules and a gang box on eBay after the range had been pulled. I never picked up any of the metal releases and ended up regretting it as they weren't available for very long and rarely show up for sale. I discovered that Mongoose has released a 'first wave' of Dredd minis on their website. Does anyone know if they are re-releases (i.e. the same ones from a couple years ago) or if they're new sculpts? I missed the press release on TMP, if there even was one

Mongoose takes a beating here, so Mongoose Matt has probably give up on TMP. |

I believe the ones on the site are re-releases, with new ones to come later. |

Yeah, I know Mongoose takes a beating here, I almost hesitate to ask about them! None-the-less the minis could be very useful in other rulesets, I don't feel like they're as tied to a system as SST was at the time it tanked. A friend on mine wants to try AE-Bounty with Dredd figures, and I want to give 5150 a shot with 'em. |

They're re-releases of the Gangs of Mega City One figures. I got a look at them on the racks at Gen Con, they don't seem to be plagued with the casting issues I had with them in the past. |

Mongoose is casting them "in house" in Ohio, rather then having a third party cast for them, so they have more quality control then before. They are going to focus on selling minis and giving the ruleset away for free (as PDF). |

Nothing wrong with that as a business model. If they're reasonably successful maybe they'll bring back some other old lead – I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd welcome a chance to buy SST Grizzly and Cougar suits at retail. |

They may no longer have the license for the SST minis. On the other hand, Mongoose is owned by the folks who own 2000AD, so Judge Dredd is here to stay. |

But the Grizzlies and Cougars weren't derived from the cartoon or the movie AFAIK, and probably aren't covered by the license directly. Rename them and resell them – look, they're now Traveller battledress, or Mega-City One Apocalypse Suits. If need be, alter the sculpt just enough that they aren't infringing on whatever IP Mongoose might be worried about. The rest of the SST range can rot as far as I'm concerned, but it's a shame to let those suits vanish forever. |

With how many movies and TV shows out there that have used them, it would be hard pressed to claim the "Light Armor Mobile Infantry" are linked to SST. Another set that if they tweaked the models slightly, would be great to see on the market again. |

Bought some Judges when they were first reissued, nice models, no flash, now waiting for the new sculpts to go with! |

"Mongoose is owned by the folks who own 2000AD, so Judge Dredd is here to stay" Nope, they split back in June: link |

So just like nearly every other Mongoose project then? Two years and out? Sigh. |

At GenCon they said Bobby Jackson is sculpting some new Dredd figures for the range. So there will be some new figs for the line coming along sometime. |

So just like nearly every other Mongoose project then? Two years and out? Sigh. Actually, from the link: Mongoose described the split as amicable and the company will continue to produce games based on Rebellion properties such as Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog. |

That's cool, but I was refering to the "merger" itself. Grand schemes announced at the time. Now just a license. |
