Does anyone know where I can find any vaguely detailed information on the order of battle for the Spanish Netherlands and Dutch/English forces at these two battles? How about maps? terrain? conjectural deployments? Anything? Cheers |

Searching Google, use the terms slag bij Heiligerlee and slag bij Zutphen to find Dutch sources. From Wikipedia: link From the Battle of Heiligerlee: link The descriptions you can copy and paste the text and use the translation function located at the Google task bar labeled "more". Here, the drop down menu will list, translation. This is particularly useful for understanding the terrain features, garsten and turfwinning, which offered cover for the Watergeuzen. The second link offers some fine drawings of the battle, so use the same search terms to source "pictures" and you should find related paintings, etchings or maps. Follow the same steps for Zutphen. This should set you in the right direction. Cheers, Robert 18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com |

Thanks Robert, other than the fact that the Dutch site gives the Spnish 200 horse while the English equivalent says 20 (a typo me thinks), there is not a whole lot more info available there
I'll keep an eye out, and meanwhile, back to the drawing room
