Given I have been able to cast some bigger subjects the past few years, I am thinking of doing a small RCW era gunboat in 15mm. It would have a few choices for weapons (76mm 1902, 3pdr, MGs)and would be around 10" long. The price would be in the $25-28 range but I would offer a discount for pre-orders. It would be a paddle type that would be fairly generic.

What say you all? If there is strong interest I'll start today:)

That would make a superb addition to the sole WWI/RCW "picket boat" currently available from Peter Pig (6.5" long).

Sounds great to me!

Assuming it would not also look too out of place on the Tigris in 1917/18 I am in.

Here is my inspiration. Although I originally found this drawing in another source, it was the basis for the first paddle steamer I did.

Many of the smaller Tigris craft had 3pdr armament, which would be one of the armament options.

Here is the deal- it would sell for $29. USD I will take pre-orders ar $22 USD and I need to get EIGHT confirmed pre-orders minimum to to this. Send the pre orders to my e-mail at

$29 USD doesn't sound all that bad at all.

I just happen to be getting into this general period.

I don't know how generic you can make them but good lowcost gunboats for the Sudan etc… could be a good move. I ended up getting the PeterPig one as a treat to myself (I was a good boy) but did agonise over it because of the price.

So far pre-orders stand at one (1). I have the plans all ready but am working on other projects pending more up front interest.

I am planing recreating battle of Chernobyl for some time but I will probably need something smaller than 15mm :)

JD Lee13 Dec 2013 8:30 a.m. PST

Not rushing but any updates on this?

JD Lee18 Feb 2014 7:18 a.m. PST

I still want one.

ptdockyard06 Mar 2014 7:55 p.m. PST

Maybe this summer team. We are still icebound here. There have been several changes in the mold supplies I use since this was posted and I have to think long and hard how toi make it now. Still viable!

Sir Marcus09 Mar 2014 6:09 a.m. PST

Well, I'm glad to hear it is still a possibility. Could make for some fun gaming!

ptdockyard19 Jun 2014 9:50 a.m. PST

Would there still be interest if this was more of a Greenport launch or one of the armored launches? Looked over the paddle steamer and with my equipment and the new mold rubber I am just asking for trouble. These two types of armed launches were ubiquitous and well armed with either 37mm, 47mm or 75mm howitzers.

ptdockyard19 Jun 2014 4:42 p.m. PST

These are what I am considering

BK Armored Gunboat
These had both 76mm or 3pdr and were moved around from front to front.

Dave,
I'd be interested in both.

JD Lee21 Aug 2014 4:02 p.m. PST

I would be interested in both as well!
But if you do one it would probably be the BK Armored Gunboat.
Thanks

ptdockyard21 Aug 2014 6:10 p.m. PST

OK. Messages received! There are several gun configurations for both, especially the BKs.

Axon0310 Apr 2015 5:46 a.m. PST

I'd buy one! (or more…)

ptdockyard08 Aug 2015 5:56 p.m. PST

Sorry guys- I have to throw in the towel on this one for now. For my little process it is sorry to say too big. I am looking for a different mold rubber that may work better but for now this is on hold. I am truly sorry.
