Well, as the title says, are there any sites that show side by side comparisons? Thanks, Jack. |

I don't know of any but I'm sure someone will point one out. To my eye the following work well togehter. I wouldn't mix across these groupings since the difference is significant. Smallish (True 15mm)= Minifig, Freikorps, Heritage Medium (Heroic 15mm) = Essex, Old Glory 15's Large (18mm) = Eureka |

Leidang, I would personally rank the current Minifigs miniatures as medium, compatible with Essex and Old Glory 15. Essex tend to be a little bulkier, and OG15 are on the taller side, but in terms of overall size and height I use the three ranges without particular compatibility issues. [The Minifigs I am referring you are the ones currently available by Caliver in the UK and GFI in the US. I do not know how they compare with previous generations of Minifigs. The range has been around for a long time, and it is my understanding that there are at least three generations of casts.] |

I'll defer to Desto on this. The minifigs I had for reference were pretty old (25 years) so I may have been looking at an earlier generation of their castings. |

Extra Crispy has at his site, figure reveiws from a number of gamers plus his own. link In addition, the reveiw of the AWI does cover most of the manufacturers listed by leidang, so you can appreciate size and quality of the figures. Infantry: link Cavalry: link If you have any quesitons specific to OG15s, I can perhaps help you there as all my Prussians, British, Austrians and Ottomans are from OG, however, my French are Essex. Cheers, Robert 18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com |

Robert, if I may inquire -- what prompted you to switch from OG15 to Essex for your French? I am readying myself to paint some SYW French units from Essex, but I was considering to build the bulk of that Army with OG15. I would be curious to learn from your experience. Thanks! |

DestoFante, Actually, the switch was in the other direction. My French were the first built and I saw the OG15s of my war game comrade. I was "sold". But as my French army is huge (1:25) 26 bns, 41 sqds, and 28 guns I am not about to sell it. However, I have bought OG15 French figures to add further variation to my Austrians; my "Italian" regiments do not have turnbacks(SYF01). Also the march attack of the German regiments is very solid looking in comparison the "Italian" don't bother us, we'll get stuck in at our own tempo. cheers, |

I think "the spanner and the yank" had something like this done. |
