Does anyone do them in 28mm? |
Oppiedog | 06 Jul 2010 3:12 a.m. PST |
Wellllllll
.. Pontoonier Miniatures does/did but trying to get hold of them is, to say the least, a bit of challenge. That said, the rumor is that they are finally going to get the on-line act together (how many years has it been now
) and even have someone selling there stuff in the UK. Of course they do some of the shows in the US where most people over here pick up their stuff, but that won't do you much good over yonder. Give 'em an email I guess (they are listed on this site with an email address) and see what happens. Besides them, I don't think I've heard of anyone else doing them in 28's. |

Perhaps someone like Eureka might venture into a range like Saxons, W'burg, Hesse and Baden
hint hint. |

Bicorne Miniatures sells the Connoisseur line -- which has Baden figures. These are large 25mm figures. Company is in the UK. You can find them on the web. |

Connoisseur/Bicorne: link I'm painting up a unit right now. Very decent sculpts. Nicer than what the bare metal photos show. A tad shorter than 28mm, but as a unit, they match up fine with other mfrs. No problem buying direct from the UK. |

I wish someone made 1813 versions of Badeners. |

The Pontoonier Baden figures are very nice. They are thin with good anatomical proportions, which I happen to like. They have line infantry and jagers so far. |

Does anyone know whether Pontoonier are trading or not? The promised website seems to have disappeared. I was hanging on to see if the figures would be made available in the UK but it looks like I will have to make do with the old Connoisseur figures for my Baden contingent. Its a pity because I saw some Jagers painted up by Der Alte Fritz and they looked lovely. |

I'd be interested in seeing the Pontoonier stuff too, Badeners are on the "to do" list. Which is annoying, as I once had a few btns of the Connoissuer ones but I sold them. The Connoissuer hussar figures are probably the best bit of their range- the officer is a great figure in a Litekwa. I had a unit which I'd spent ages converting and animating, I sent it off to the late and much-missed Ian Stables to be painted and he tragically died unexpectedly. Somehow, I wasn't about to ring his widow up and ask for my figures. |

why not use Bavarians, I think it should work. |

*Bump* You can't use Bavarian figures without major modifications as the Baden Rapenhaulm horsehair crest is lower/smaller than the Bavarian version. Also the Leib-Garde-Grenadier had a closed waist coat decorated with eight horizontal laced buttons across the breast and wore a large black fur bonnet like the Imp.Gd. Therefore, please could Front Rank or Perry's release the Baden Line Inf, Jager,Guard, Artillery and Cavalry for 1805 to 1814 – with early, mid and late variants? They were considered the best of the Rheinbund formations. What about the Baden Hussars and their "Charge of Death" at the Battle of Beresina 1812 alongside the Hessian Chevaux -Legers – who doesn't want to model a unit on them? and what about the Commander of the III/26 who of Baden troops who stated on 3 May at the Battle of Ebelsberg "You saved my Honour and Life"….surely these troops deserve the best of the 28mm manufacturers? |
