Yep. I like 'em. Best for a divisional game.

Nice set of rules. The colored pages almost blinded me though.

Intersting set, they are currently starting a reworking process for second edition of them.

That's a pity. It doesn't require meddling, and the RFCM record does not bode well for a re-do.

I shall be attending one of the new SB sessions at COW, so we shall see what transpires. I hope it doesn't end up like AK47 Reloaded though.

Anyway, yes, I played SB a lot and a fair number of the comments on Nigel Clarkes FAQ website are from me.

Works best for around a division, company sized bases and you can use the same stuff for Great War Spearhad if you want more of a simulation. I think SB is a lot of fun though, and it is hard to make WW1 trench warfare fun…..

Works for 1914, 1918, trench slogging, Mesopotamia/Palestine, RCW and I also used it a lot for bigger battles in the SCW (with a few minor mods).

I have conq. and kings and PBI. I have played a few gmes of theC&K. I like the concept and the WWI action reports sound fun.

The new version is somewhat different to the old, 6" sqaures for a start.

However as with any of the reworkings of RFCM rules, if you dont like them, keep to the original.

The orignal AK are still a valid rulesset with scope for adaptation, more so than the new set.

New Hammerin Iron is a definate improvement im my opinion.

New Square Bashing will turn some off, turn some on. It was ever thus.

That is all.

:-)

Isn't square bashing drill? Doesn't sound like something I'd like to play. Done enough of that already!
