Does anyone have suggestions for a resource (a board game, Map, book, or rules scenario available to tabletop playout the 'linked' battles of the 1066 campaigne?

Oh my, could I be more specific? 1066.us … and specifically this page link is a place to start….

This would make a better "Deadliest Warrior" episode than "Shaolin Monk vs. Vlad the Impaler".

One of the dreckful romance novels about William the Conqueror that I read years ago had a fictional encounter between him and Harold in Normandy, while Harold was his prisoner. In addition to their weapons weighing 40 lbs(!?!?), they both laid full-strength blows upon each others' shoulders in the course of their duel, simply to see who was best. The outcome was that they were equals. I almost lost my breakfast, but finished the book anyway – which afterward formed a lasting regret. Blessedly, I have forgotten both the title and the author(ess)….

Yep I would agree with Doom's suggestion, its one of the best resources for gaming 1066 on the net (its Dooms site if that wasn't obvious).

"I almost lost my breakfast…"

I'm feeling somewhat ill after suffering the effects of the Christopher Lambert "Beowulf", the Chris Bruno (SciFi) "Grendel", and the Ray Winstone "Beowulf", all in one day yesterday.

I would suggest looking at Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Tales. While a bit earlier than what you are looking for, Cornwell seems to do a good job of laying out the various battles of the Alfred the Great period.

There is also a boardgame "1066" which is in S&T Magazine #240. It is a strategic game on the campaign.

Here is a campaign book ("1066")with all the historical battles, armies and maps from Terry Gore, the author of "Medieval Warfare":
