Scipio vs Hannibal, Battle of Zama, 202 BC This was a battle put on by The Society of Ancients. While Hannibal is in Italy trouncing the Romans there, the Roman, Scipio decides to make a name for himself by going to Africa and attacking Hannibal in his own back yard
. This is an epic battle of Romans against the hastily returned Hannibal and his Carthiginians. The protagonists face each other in two lines, Hannibal's elephants charge in
.but Scipio has prepared a nasty surprise. Hope you like it. Further aids to the facinated: 1) Deployment and opening moves link 2) Denoument and Orders of Battle link |

Good use of close-up photography in the first link to convey a sense of action. I particularly like sense of forward motion in the two photos of the elephants advancing. Rick |

Excellent article, nice writeup, beautiful figures, terrific photography. Question on your game board: It looks like some kind of tiles with grass mat. I see you have small scale rocks scattered everywhere. That gives a surprisingly good look for how simple it is to do. Are the rocks glued down or just sprinkled out when you set up and swept up later? |
