The recent issue of Miniature Wargames has an excellent article by Gary Richards, exploring the possibilities of naval wargaming and raid-type scenarios set during the Crimean War.

If/when you game the Crimean War, what type of game do you play/are you most likely to play? Strategic or skirmish level, land or sea?

Strategic land.

Grand tactical, land

While I know there was some action at sea, it really is an undiscovered aspect of the Crimean War for most people

Martin Rapier11 May 2010 12:39 p.m. PST

Big battles, land.

What rules for land battles?
And where to get the ships for this period?

I use Field of Battle by Piquet. May try Black Powder too.

Thanks,

John

I'd want a 1/1 for Balaclava, probably. I guess that means 6 or 10mm.
