Can anyone suggest the correct colour (Humbrol, Tamiya, Model Master) for a British W.W.II destroyer deck gun? Thanks, |

Tamiya or Model Master please as I can't get Humbrol without going down to Brookhurst. Vallejo will do in a pinch. Wyatt (who's building and painting the bloody thing for Brian tomorrow) |

I would think they'd be painted in the same color as the hull. -Mike |

And the hull would be
.? Depends where and when as colour schemes varied between stations and in the course of the war. And also between ships! Can you be a bit more specific about what you are trying to achieve? |

I am working on two guns. 1. A British 18 pdr. gun converted for naval and fortress use on pintal mount that would be an armed merchant man in the North Atlantic (1944-45). 2. A 40mm bofors that has been removed from its Naval mount on a destroyer and used as part of a Naval bases' defence. Thanks |

You'd probably be o.k. with something like British Extra Dark Sea Gray (Model Masters), British Ocean Gray (Model Masters), or British Sea Gray (Model Masters). In a pinch, go for USN Light Gray 5-L, Haze Gray 5-H, or Ocean Gray 5-O (all Model Masters). |

Right! I'll pick up one of those this morning. While you're at it, can you kindly send me that it a text message? I have a few other WWII naval paint questions to quiz you upon. Good luck getting shot down today! Wyatt |

A 40mm bofors that has been removed from its Naval mount on a destroyer and used as part of a Naval bases' defence. Not sure there would be any bofors guns to remove! When the Royal Navy asked the bofors company for 40mm guns to replace their 40mm pom-poms, the Bofors people told them it was a no-go, as all their production was committed to supplying the British Army. The battleship Prince of Wales had to borrow one from Army at Singapore, which was lashed to the deck. It was one of the few AA guns still firing after the PoW''s electrical system went down in her last fight. |

I think Model Master Dark Sea Gray #2059 is the same as Humbrol #27 Dark Sea Grey? Thanks, |
