This information is summarized from "The Painter's Guide to World War II Naval Camoflage" by Patrick Hreachmark. Hulls, superstructure, etc.: various shades of grey depending on navy yard. Ranged from light to dark grey. Deck: Wood decks left unpainted. Steel decks painted same color as hull. Linoleum decks on CL's and DD's were a yellowish-brown color. Aircraft carriers built or converted in 1942 had reddish-brown decks. Turrets had a canvas covers. Generally light to medium grey in color by 1941. Camoflage was not used until later in the war.
