LOL, just like I am giving thought to MiS. It would be more likely, for me, if I had any sculpting ability. Or more money? Gracias, Glenn |

"If done right, I think that people would buy them as swarms of small alien fauna, even if done with just the 3 or 4 different poses with separate heads (like you do with your space demons)." Seriously, CC, the problem is that it takes a certain number of people who share that same vision, have the money (and are willing to spend it,) and want to buy the figures in a timely manner for a business (not a passion) to be profitable. I suspect you (or I) could find a sculptor, have the molds made, and have the figures cast with some likelihood of success. But a business has different priorities besides the "cool" factor. I suspect there are whole armies I have owned that were only possible because there was a second person in the world who shared my interest who was graced with artistic skill, time, and desire to make a set of figures I also wanted. Gracias, Glenn Gracias,

Hmm, some very interesting insight on the economics of 15mm. Mongo. |

Glad to hear it, Mongo. Yes, people see a release like the new resistance infantry and I think they say, wow, that guy is going to make a lot on those, and perhaps I will -- someday, years from now. But the costs of these, as opposed to the prices that the market will bear, are pretty grim! I have to sell 1,080 of the resistance guys before I pay off the investment and start making an actual profit. The question then becomes, once I've sold 1,080, how much more of a market is there for them? |

Ouch! I know something of how all this works, but that is a pretty bitter pill. It is important for people to understand that this business is not making anyone rich and has a lot of financial risk for the company owners when an major stumble could spell doom. The simple fact that today's 15mm customer's are looking for detail that used to only be found on 25-28mm figures means that sculpting is much more expensive. People are no longer accepting of the litle metal blobs 15mm used to be, but yet some still get mad that they are not still paying the same proce for the newer and much superior sculpts available today as they did for the metal blobs in the 70's and 80's. Our expectations have increased and with them come additional costs and difficulties. Look at how many Miniature Businesses come and go very quickly. It's a tough market and you have to love it to do it. I am just greatful for what all of you as business owners are doing and how well you are doing it. I have gotten more out of 15mm over the past several years than I did in almost 20 years of 28mm gaming. It is the right size for me and I am greatful that companes like Khurasan make it possible. My wife and my wallet a little less so, but I try and support the companies that support my hobby. Jeff |

Hmm, some very interesting insight on the economics of 15mm. Yes, especially the relative costs of sculpting the masters and making the production molds. Hadn't realized 15mm spincast molds were so economical. |

You have two moulds, the master mould which makes the metal masters from the greens, then you have the production moulds to make the production castings. And of course there's a per piece cost for the metal master castings that go into making the cavities in the production mould. Costs actually vary from one mouldmaker to the next. |
