Mine too! We've refought it in 15mm I'm very keen to do Magnesia, one day, in 28's.

All we need to do now is persuade the Society of Ancients to make it the game for next year's Battle Day. At least we would get to use the Romans again!

Hi Paul, it'll be 3 or 4 years before we get a crack at sensible Romans again. Next year it'll be Sumerians, Khazars or Bleyme! ;-)

However I have been thinking it might be fun (not for the Battleday but maybe Salute 2012) to continue to extend the Roman and Carthaginian armies, and do Cannae on a grand scale.

Caliban – interesting scenario. It is hard to reflect the danger that scythed chariots pose their own side, glad to see that you have built this in.

Perhaps too many veteran Seleucids – looking at Sabin's Lost Battles he downgrades many of the troops in Antiochus army (making a historical result almost inevitable).

Hi Garry, you're right about the Seleucid veterans. I tried to strike a balance between the historical forces and the ruleset, hence the veteran ratings for the phalanx, and elite for Argyraspides. To be historically correct, they probably should be militia and veteran respectively, ie a full grade lower. Having said that, I wanted to make it more of a game, and those Romans sure are tough. I took them as my starting point and then extrapolated from there; it helped me make the points totals exactly equal.

Simon & Paul if you have Cannae at Salute in 2012 I WILL plan to be there!!!!! Mike Adams

One of my favourites too. Played it in 6mm not that long ago with a very historical result. There is a photo of the game in progress at link
