Hey all,
We did Scenario #9 of Breaking the Luftwaffe, "Metal of Honor", on the 13th and here are the pics of the battle.

link

The scenario seemed one sided, to me, with 8 BF-109 variants and 2 ME-410's
versus 6 B-17's and 4 P-51B's. But as fate would have it, bad die roles did the
Germans in allowing the Americans to prevail. In the end 1 B-17 was damaged and
two downed for the loss of 7 BF-109's.

This was a great game in which 3 MVP's showed their metal. German MVP Kevin
showed guts in pressing the final attack for two more turns after his comrades
opted to disengage due to technical difficulties. Kevin would weather the
attacks of 3 B-17's in the last 2 turns, with damage only occurring to his
weapons. Kevin then decided to follow his comrades and head for home.

American MVP Justin showed just HOW robust the B-17 was when his Fortress took
numerous Blue on Blue hits and not less than 4 enemy attacks and came out
unscathed.

Last but not least German MVP Carlos's first game showed what it takes to be a
pilot in the Luftwaffe when his BF-109 took no less than 1 engine hit and 2
lucky hits which reduced his speed but improved his shooting skill rating.
Nevertheless, he still pressed home the attack! In the end Carlos would be
blown up but shared in taking out a B-17 in the proverbial Blaze of Glory.

Again a great game was had. Thanks to Bill C. and James B. for running the
game, Steve N. for hosting and Kevin H., Carlos "Iron Cross" F. Jeff P., Brian
H., Glen S., Dave O. and Justin "Horse Shoe" M. for playing.

nice!

Those ARE nice. Mind you, I have to say, the groundscale causes the B17's to look consistently in peril of collision!

Out of interest – I'm ignorant of the rules mechanics in CY6, so how does the game justify the idea that an attack against you increases your shooting ability?

Looks Nice What scale of air craft are you using?

MacrossMartin, I asked the same question, the consensus seems to be that taking engine hits infuriates you and you have better aim(?)! As for the look, I think that when the bomber crews were actually going through this over Germany they probably thought collisions were going to happen all the time.
Belisarius, the scale of aircraft are 1/144 and all are correct except for the ME-410's which were played by HS-129's.

Thanks Werwulf. I play the game with 1/300 scale planes.

Love the CY6 rules, played this weekend and caused more damage from lucky hits than from actual failed robust rolls.

I take them which ever way they come!

Love the paint jobs, I hope to get a large amount of 1/300 soon. Any Huzzah! attendees, here is your chance to sell that dusty lot, I'll be there with a bag of cash !

Thats a great write up. In many AAR's its hard to see whats actually happened. This was nice and clear.

Excellent stuff.

Looks great, very impressive! I also play CY6 in 1/144, but so far the largest bombers I've used are twin-engine types. I plan to eventually add some B-17s to my collection.
