This was a game where the other player could only see what was posted on the web. (gotta love digital cameras and the PC--sure beats the by snail mail games I was involved in decades ago). I was the GM and ran the Germans. Their entry and movement was preplanned. The rules I used was a modified version of NUTS by 2hourwargames.

This is hopefully the first game of a campaign. The US player has 1 twelve man squad and each of his men has an attribute--some good, some bad. Most of his men have lower levels of "rep" (experience) and as they complete more missions that level will increase (unless they get wounded or worse). The US player had to react to what he could see or hear and try to keep his men (including his own player character) alive. So instead of the usual win at all costs, the player was much more cautious.

Unfortunately, the AAR is only from the US player's perspective so you wont get the German info. I can fill that in now…I started the Germans with a listening post of 2 men and a 6 man squad already on the board at game start. The listening post was near the US entry location but unless the US stumbled upon it would not find it. (they stumbled upon it). The rest of the squad was near the French farm and road. A kubelwagon with officer and 3 men enter on turn 3 from the west end of the road and after getting to the farm, spend some time there talking with the Frenchman. The German squad's sgt reports to the officer to tell him they lost contact with the listening post. Then 2 squads, each in an Opel truck, show up on turn 5 or 6, from the west, travel to the farm and get orders from the officer and then move to their assigned locations…one on the east side of the table and the other on the west side.

That is a really cool way to run a game! It's nice to see that both you and your friend played it out in a sort of roleplay.

I'm going to have to try this after getting a much better camera, the macro on my current one works very poorly.

Your wheat: I bought the same rug at some craft store, thinking I could dye it. Bummer that since it's acrylic it won't hold dye! It holds paint, but not very well…

thanks for that info Darby. It was suggested to me to paint it, but I wasnt sure that would work out well. I'm looking for Coir mats to use in place of this "fun fur" but havent found any.
