I am fascinated by the idea of Very British Civil War (don't say it, Chouan) so to those who play it, a few questions/ideas: On which side is Churchill? I'm sure he would be in the think of anything like this, Mauser C96 in hand. Are there expeditionary forces from Canada, South Africa, India, Hong Kong? Might the IRA or the Irish Free State send a Flying Column to a break-away "celtic" republic in Wales, Cornwall, Scotland? Perhaps a side game could be DeVelera invading the North of Ireland during the power vacuum and Free State/IRA volunteers encounter Ulster Volunteers/B-specials/ etc. |

Read up on the forums. They go into a some of these ideas. Not going to give away much as the books are just source materials and well worth owning :) Here's the link: link |

The source books are odd really – they give one collectives view of what could have happened in the mid late thirties alternative history outlined by such films as Richard III which is shakespeare set in fascist Britain and books like, 'The Leader' where the premise is the non abdication of Edward causes political Chaos ending in Mosley forming Government
the era was full of real splinter groups etc anyway. Don't get me wrong there is a LOT in them and it is worth getting them but you could take the idea, do a bit of research and go down whatever track you like. The nice thing about the GWP at the moment is seeing what other people are up to and the fact it can meld into one. Where Churchill is is up to you
interned on the IOW is likely
in our version of the history he is about to get busted out and returned to his constituency in Epping :) The good thing about the idea is basically anything goes! Good idea indeed! |

surfer, I think you may need to delve into previous threads in the cocktail bar with regard to Churchill. But as its VBCW
the worlds your lobster! |

I was going by the events outlined in the book 'The Leader' as opposed to what was on GWP – see this is what I don't get
it's make believe so why would I need to delve into past threads on GWP to see what has happened to Churchill ? |

Don't forget that Churchill was about 64 at the time, not the young man charging through the fuzzy wuzzy blasting away with his Mauser. I would prefer to think of him as in this picture. link |

Hee hee in the book the main character has to share a cell and put up with his snoring! In fact a scenario booklet and background info based on the book may be a good idea :) |

surfer, What I meant was how the source book writers had " dealt " with him. I have'nt read " The Leader " so did'nt know what you were getting at

Ok
no worries
as far as I know they haven't really dealt with him in the Solway source books
the Leader is an ok novel
nothing deep but OK! |

64 he may be, Bob etc., yet he toured the Normandy landing sites when the blood was still fresh! I love that pic of old Winston with the tommy -the Nazi made great propaganda use of that one. I can't help but imagine that a good number of colonials would put in a showing -if not the Canadian Army, then at least a sizable "international brigade". Why not a mixed force of Sikhs, Gurkhas, Palestine police and UVF storming through Leeds?:) |
