So, how has it been? We've got a relatively active FoW community here in Central Indiana, but I'm really not a fan of the rules. We've got a small game store here that lets us use space, but we'd like to play something that encourages the players to spend money there. If we could play CF with FoW minis, that would fit the bill nicely. Have you tried using the standard basing for FoW with Crossfire, and how has it worked out? |

I played CF once or twice w/ FoW-based figures, it works just fine. Basing really doesn't matter all that much if it's consistent. |

I haven't played FOW, but have a couple of quick comments: You just need something to be able to identify stands as members of platoons and you'll need smaller stands for platoon commanders – if FOW doesn't have smaller sized basing requirements, you could always use unbased figures for the PC. To quickly identify stands by platoon, you could always go to a Wal-Mart or stationary store and get Avery coloured labels – I used to use the little circles on the bottom of my stands, with a colour for the platoon and a written number on the sticker for the company. Heck, if your bases are thick enough, maybe you could just cut a sticky label to fit on the edge. It got to be a bit of a pain always picking up the stands to check underneath, so eventually we went to colour coding the back edge of the stand like this sort of thing: picture But the stickers underneath would do in a pinch. -- Tim |

I reckon it will work without any issues, it just means your infantry organisation is starting at company level instead of CF battalion level. I think the FoW organisation is better anyway as support and armour is well covered as opposed to CF army lists. Possibly it may make a more bloody game as support formations are 1:1 (British MMG platoon). But, so long as terrain is increased to regulate movement and fields of fire it should balance out OK. |

You will need additional command figures as a 3X3 squad platoon plus platoon HQ, becomes 3x3 platoons and a company HQ in Crossfire, Each 'platoon' of 3 bases needs a single individually based figure to represent platoon leader.
