Many votes here for "The Jewels of Opar" I'll bet. (-: Mine was "The Beasts of Tarzan". I loved the idea of "Tarzan" canoeing his way toward the bad guys with a crew of intelligent Apes manning the oars and a blood thirsty Panther sitting in the prow! (-: |

I loved them all, but still would have to stick with the very first story as my favorite. |

I rather liked "Tarzan and the Lion man", ERB's rather wicked shot at Hollywood. |

>>I rather liked "Tarzan and the Lion man", ERB's rather wicked shot at Hollywood.<< I didn't get that far in the series, but I just looked up the plot and it sounds really good! |

Tarzan At The Earth's Core, the Pellucidar books were always my favorite. |

Wow, it's been so long since I read them that its hard to recall what happens in which book. But I'll throw my vote down for "Tarzan and the Lost Empire," because the idea of a lost Roman colony that has no idea the world had moved on
that's neat. |

"I loved the idea of "Tarzan" canoeing his way toward the bad guys with a crew of intelligent Apes manning the oars and a blood thirsty Panther sitting in the prow!" Which of us doesn't like that? It sounds like the ideal form of transport. Can any of these apes drive a stick shift? |

>>>"I loved the idea of "Tarzan" canoeing his way toward the bad guys with a crew of intelligent Apes manning the oars and a blood thirsty Panther sitting in the prow!"<<< >Which of us doesn't like that?< Heh Heh! The idea is so cool. I recall that part of the plot line to that bit was that Tarzan had to keep the Panther and the Apes apart as they are natural enemies and would have happily torn into each other if he wasn't keeping a close watch. (-: It's too bad that the Panther disappeared after that novel and never returned. I really enjoy Tarzan's interaction with jungle animals. Another favorite bit was from "Tarzan the Untamed" when he captured a Lion and kept it's claws and head covered until he let it loose in a trench full of enemy Germans. LOL |

>>Loved them all.<< I didn't. As many of us here know, two different stories, "Tarzan the Untamed" which was serialized in "Redbook", and "Tarzan and the Valley of Luna" which was serialized in "All Story Magazine" were combined for the the hard cover novel "Tarzan the Untamed", and it's obvious when you read the combined version. I liked the 1st part *much* better where Tarzan wreaks havoc on the Germans who he believes murdered his wife Jane. The second half takes place in a "lost city" populated by lunatics which is a premise I found ridiculous for more reasons than I care to list here, and consequently I found nothing at all to love in the Valley of Luna. |

Tarzan and the lost empire – for lots of reasons. It was the first Tarzan book I read. The concept is a killer one ! Because it is set in an enclosed valley it makes a great wargame campaign [there was an article on it years ago in miniature wargames IIRC ;-) ]. |

The only one I've read is the Pellucidar one

#10, #11 & #12 are my favorites! Tarzan and the Ant Men Tarzan as a pilot is just a cool thing to this pilot. Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle & Tarzan and the Lost Empire I love the lost "civilization" touches in these two (Medieval England & Classic Rome). I am sure there are more of these type, but I have not read past #14 in decades despite owning all 24. |
