As I stated with my last question, I am starting an EIR army after a few years away from ancients.
My question is, when roughly, did the manica come into use (other than the Dacian Campaign)? I know there is supposed to be evidence for it before (from Wiki so I don't trust it too much), so references and dating evidence would be welcome.
I know it won't be around for the invasion of Brittania, but is it around in '69, or is it later?

A good summary of the sources is at:

romanarmy.net/manica.htm

Is the conclusion too bold? That's up to you. The Mainz tombstones show the timeframe as far as I would push it.

Thanks Allen – that is exactly what I was looking for!
Very intersting about the crupellarius, I had not heard of that before.
