Hello:

I posted the comments below back in 2008, today I posted the link in the similar thread of last Thursday.

I suspect the recent thread is beginning to drop off the radar here so I decided to post my 2008 comments in full as a New Topic in the event it will be of use to anyone. Sorry if the gesture seems redundant…

*********************

I received four packs yesterday, the two "Woodland Indians" and two "Braddock's Defeat" (British & French). I set them out for comparison with the numerous Suren and Redoubt 18thC/FIW that I have.

The three lines are virtually identical in height. An exception being an Indian (BM) who would be ca. 6'2" or so. But he is believably proportioned to be, simply, a tallish fellow, not some muscle-bound heroic type.

He has his musket in the crook of his arm and is obviously "directing things" so the figure, and its extra height, fit his presumed role of leader quite well.

The BM are slightly "leaner" than Redoubt and, for the most part, the anatomy and naturalness of their poses overall are a bit better. Both these lines would very easily blend into the same units (the Indians and irregulars at least), they are so close in style and "heft". Individual taste would have to dictate mixing the European troops from the two.

For any graybeards here who are fortunate enough to have original Surens cast in the late 60s/early 70s (not the rather "ethereal ETs" of recent decades) these also are decidedly compatible with Redoubt and Blue Moon being only _very_ slightly thinner.

I have no NoAm Indians from Perry or Conquest FIW to compare, but other the periods I have from Perrys are quite noticeably smaller in general; again subject to individual taste I suppose.

I am quite pleased with the three lines as larger 28s and do hope that Blue Moon will have the time and inspiration to produce a comprehensive FIW line as was mentioned here last month by a BM(?) representative.

BM are much nicer than I expected!

Cheriton: Thanks for the comments. Is there a change for you to post a "big" picture of a BM FIW English soldier next to a Perry Figure?

I would be using the figures for a dio, so realistic proportions, good detail and moulding is esssential for me, (I can do "some" conversion work on them)
I could buy the braddock set and see for myself, but I'm not a gamer and if the figures are not suitable they have no use for me.

Thanks for your interest and help.

saludetes.

Not certain how/if I can post an image here at TMP itself? I don't think I can PM you and attach one either? Let me see what I can come up, bear with me might be a day or so.

Are you talking about Perry AWI? They would be quite noticably smaller in appearance re BM, I'd think. However, I now see you didn't specifically state Perry AWI, just to use "a" Perry fig for size reference?

I'll PM you here on TMP if I manage something…

Cheers

Cheers Cheriton.

Thanks a lot for the time and interest taken to help me.

The Perry comparasion is simply because I know the Perry figures and how they can look like once I've painted them. Some I can use some I can't. So comparing them next to a BM figure I can sort out if my painting is ok for the figure.

thanks a lot for your help`.

saludetes

Seems like I'll have to take another look at Blue Moon figures then. Most of my collection is Redoubt and I would be happy to add a few more Indians.
BTW the Galloping Major Indians and Canadians are also almost a perfect match for Redoubt, and they are very, very good.
