with the release of the new Perry plastic dragoons ,some folks may be wondering what else these plastics can be used for. I think I have found at least one answer. on page 315 of "Armies of the Napoleonic Wars" edited by Chris McNab ,is a picture of the Spainish Numancia Dragoon Regiment form between 1810 and 1813. Take a plastic french carbinier head and trim off the french markings..place on the dragoon body. the helment for the spainish dragoon is black is brass plate and crest holder and chin strap scales. the uniform is a dark green with white collar ,( cuffs and turnbacks,,,not sure on these last two as I can not see them in the picture.)The square lapel is also white. I'm not sure about trim as the picture is of a field officer who has gold lace trim. The overalls seem to be tan or buff. There is also a wide red sash around the figures waste
not sure if this is just officer or part of the enlisted uniform as well. As I see it,leave off the fancy cording on the right shoulder and just paint the saddle on the dragoon horse to go with the uniform,,,say white sheep skin and red wolf's teeth ,so on.It might just work, and then agian it may be the only way to raise this regiment of spainish dragoons not wearing the old bicorne uniform. just an idea Runicus Fasticus |

The same uniform is illustrated in the Osprey Spanish Armies book. The sash is noted as being in copy of that used by British officers so would presumably not be used by the troopers. |
