Does anyone have a guide for painting these guys.

What colors should I use? (vallejo is my current set of paints)

How do you paint tartans in 28mm?

I have some Perry Bros. figures.

Another question is the painted Perry figures on their site show the rank and file Black Watch with a baby blue shirt.
Is that the undershirt? or am I missing something?

Take a look at these plates

I can't find any Highlanders on the Perry site with a 'baby blue undershirt'. Got a link?

thanks Connard but I was looking more for a color guide.

some of the links in threads are dead ends.

The plate shows Napoleonic Black Watch (I think) and a lot of the uniform does not match the Sudan uniform in any meaningful way.

I don't know how to link to the perry page (the link I create always takes you to the Perry home page)

Select the Sudan-British.

then select the Black Watch Highlanders, Charging.

Blue coats/shirts. Odd.

What you are refering to is the grey uniform worn after the red coats but before khaki. If you look on the Perry's site under "Sudan extras" you'll see a link to "Michael's articles". That shows uniform details.

Ah sorry, I assumed that you meant during the Napoleonic period. That'll learn me :)

You must mean this

which is, as vaughan said, the grey uniform.

Vaughan thanks for the link.

Connard! you made the picture show up!

Did the Black Watch ever wear their red coats in Africa?

That blue is horrific! :)

Thanks Will

But I am more confused than when I started.

Still not sure what colors to use on the red coats.

Why the different color outfits?

I like to look at pictures though :)

Quadratus – have you read the article from the Perry website? It explains a bit about the different uniforms worn in the Sudan, who wore which and when.
