I'm researching the rounds per gun for the Curtiss P-40. I'm getting contradictory information concerning the model P-40B.
The P-40B armament consisted of two engine cowling mounted .50s and four wing mounted .30 calibre machine guns.
Any help on the subject will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have seen quite a few different amounts for the Browning M-2 anywhere from 160 to 380 rounds per gun and for the .30 cal 480-500 rounds per gun from various sources. Robert

The discrepancies might be because there are two version of P-40B. The other version (H81-A2) was the Tomahawk II which saw service in the Soviet Union. The wing guns were replaced with .303 Brownings and I suspect the number of rounds were also different.

You might be able to contact someone at the Smithonian to get full details as they may have either an expert on hand or information available.

You can also try the Air Force Museum as they have research facilities there as well.
