I have looked through numerous Osprey and the Kronoskaf site as well as a vigorous google search. I can't find anything about Penavaire.

I want to paint him for a Kolin commander, can anyone tell me what his uniform would have been. I'm thinking generic red cuffs and lapels with a blue coat. BUT, he's a cavalry commander so I was wondering if it would be something different?

Any help would be appreciated.

Prussian generals wore the uniform of their regiment. If wearing a tricorne (i.e. everyone except hussar generals), the hat had a short, white feather trim on the inside of the three sides of the tricorne called the "plumage" like Seydlitz here (and you can see a dragoon general behind him).

Dugal m…baring a possible mis-spelling, I believe Generalmajor Peter Ernst de Pennavaire was commander of KR11, Leib-Carabiniers from 1751 14.11. to 1759 24.01.

Cheers,
Robert

timurilank, Thank you so much! I have a number of Duffy books, Ospreys and Kronoskaf to look at, but no one mentions him as other than a commander.

Kronoskaf hasn't tackled the Cuirassiers yet so the info wasn't available there, the easiest place to search.

That's how it's spelled on Kronoskaf as well, thanks, now I'll know to check both spellings in the future.

If you have the Duffy book on the army of Frederick the Great, then look back in the appendix for a list of every infantry and cavalry regiment. Therein, you will see the listing of the inhabers for every regiment. You will eventually find Pennavaire listed there and that will tell you which regiment was his; that in turn will indicate which uniform he wore. As others have said, Prussian generals wore their regimental uniforms.
