We at All the King's Men are in the process of creating a second edition of our namesake rules. These are intended for fast, fun games in the horse-and-musket era, ostensibly for 54mm miniatures. (But you could just as easily use 28s!)

These rules were used to play the huge AWI game we staged at Cold Wars, pictures of which are here:

With these rules, a 180-square-foot game with 14 newbie players took only 3 hours and involved 70+ units of troops!

The latest and last iteration of these rules is now available as a free PDF download on the ATKM site. Feel free to grab them here:

And don't miss out on the sample battles offered, from the AWI and War of 1812.

If you like what you see, we offer AWI and War of 1812 metal figures, all in 54mm. We also carry numerous terrain pieces. Our next line of figures will be Napoleonic!

Any chance you'll ever do some ancients in 54mm?

Hey, Dale! I'll never say never, but I confess ATKM is kind of an outlet for toy soldiers from some of my favorite periods, and Ancients is lower on that list. The benefits/affectations of running a side business?

@Dale Hurtt

Have you looked at Blackcat miniatures?

@Gratuitous Saxon Violence

Thanks for that. I had not seen them. I had posted this question on Fanaticus and only came up with Irregular Miniatures.

@allthekingsmen

Thanks for the consideration and sorry for highjacking the thread. I have an AWI collection in 15mm and have been considering doing another AWI collection in eiher 40mm or 54mm, but haven't committed yet. I've never painted anything above 28mm, but with my eyes getting worse, maybe it is time to consider… :)

I wish I could have been at the game. It looks fantastic.

I read an earlier version of these rules and thought they sounded interesting. Some nice ideas.
