Has anybody heard any information on the release of the Victrix British foot artillery. Will it contain a limber and horse team? Looking forward to adding some fire power to the game.

TodCreasey18 Mar 2010 7:04 p.m. PST

I can't wait for this one either!

Anyone got some pics? I'm really excited about this…

STEVE LBMS21 Mar 2010 6:54 a.m. PST

Just seen this thread. We will be showing some pictures soon and putting out a news release. We are really pushihg to get this set out for Salute.

The set will contain 3 guns and 3 limbers with options to make the guns as 5.5 inch howitzers, short 6 pdr, long 6 pdr or 9 pdr. There will be 15 crew figures with options for Peninsular or Waterloo with many interchangeable arms.
There wont be horses and out riders in the set as this made it far to expensive a set to produce and realisticly hope to get costs back. We will be producing horse teams and riders in metal.

News item with pictures sometime this coming week.

Steve.

lebooge26 Mar 2010 7:04 p.m. PST

This is exciting news. Hopefully some French artillery is in the pipeline as well!

Serotonin27 Mar 2010 11:50 a.m. PST

Really dumb newbie question, but would there be any problem with swapping the Brit figures out for French ones, or are the artillery pieces massively different in design?

Runicus Fasticus27 Mar 2010 5:38 p.m. PST

the french guns have a double trail system on their gun carrages, why english guns of the time (except for howitzers) had a single trail on the carrage.

Dear Tim
The RHA had block trail 6-pdrs, Long 6-pdrs, Light 12-pdrs and Howitzers from their creation. Recieved the royal patent in 1793 but existed before. Drawings of the block trail howitzer are in Dupin (1820) that will be reprinted by Ken Trotman this year. If you look on the Ken Trotman site, I have used the drawing of the howitzer for the logo on the Adye (1813) Bombardier and Pocket Gunner.

The RA was much slower to go across to block trail and were only finally fully converted in late 1813-14. All RA had block trail at Waterloo.

This is a complex story. The 9-pdr was always on block trail. It is probable that the RA companies never received the 6-pdr block trail. Again there is still much to resolve.

The last British bracket carriage had parallel cheeks and the axle from the block trail. So looked like the late M1816 pattern Prussian carriage with the British elevating screw.

All guns had 5 foot wheels. The bracket carriage that most people reproduce is from a howitzer cast in 1780s that was present to China and was capture in the Opium Wars. The carriage has been much shortened Congreve bracket carriage that was used in the AWI.

Constantine has been holding his breath for more than 263 hours now. Is this a TMP record?

Constantine01 Apr 2010 8:39 a.m. PST

Dunno… But I'm starting to turn a little blue. Is that a bad thing?

'that was a bit of a fib wasn't it'

It's up on the website now.A bit longer than expected but I was having to finish laying out the box art to send to the printers. No time for anything else when you have a print deadline to meet! An unintentional/unavoidable delay I would call it.

News has been submitted to TMP but has not gone up yet.

Steve.

Canuck64,

Sorry for not answering your question, I have not been looking at this thread for a while.

I was going to show some photos of the Austrians so far but we have decided to hold back as I want to make some improvements to the models. They need a bit of extra work before I am happy to show them off. You know what some TMP members can be like when they have an axe to grind. So I would like to gve them as little ammunition as possible. (Don't know why I am bothering to be so picky as they will still moan!)

Austrians are still on target for this year.

Steve.

They look fantastic. Can't wait!

We should all get down on our knees and thank the great gods Victrix and Perrys, amazing figs at affordable prices.
