In the John Wayne movie "Sands of Iwo Jima" it's noted that Wayne's character, Sgt Stryker, was busted down to sergeant from a higher rank. What was that higher rank? Thanks! MB |

Probably not busted for drinking per se (after all, the Marine eval form used in 2000 still had a line about coming in to work showing sings of intemperance), but rather busted for getting into a fight while drunk. |

Whatever he was before being busted, I doubt that it was his original rank. Most sergeants started out as privates. |
