It's been a slow start to 2010, but things are finally beginning to pick up, with two posts in the last two weeks. We go back to Borodino for both of these, looking at the developing Grande Armee for the invasion of Russia in 1812.

Check out the progress and let me know what you think: --> mikes-lead.blogspot.com

Very nice painting, and one heck of an ambitious project!

I've just started in 6mm and are no where near your level of detail. Doubtful I will ever achieve it. On the one hand I don't think all the little bits need to be painted at this scale. On the other hand, as I get more practice, I just might start adding it as I gain confidence.

black magic that is.

Nicely done.

Gorgeous stuff! I tried 6mm once. Once. I admire people with the eyessight to pull it off, because it does look grand on the table top.

And another excellent example of how good Adlers look painted up. I always felt they got a bit of a bum rap for their out of proportion heads but on the table top they look fantastic!

You've certainly got the knack for taking advantage of the characteristics of 6mm that make it look great on a table; quality basing, the effort of painting in mass and a good eye for color at that scale. Well done!

My own 6mm stuff looks like board game tokens in comparison = (

Very nice..

Wow nice looking figures. At that scale most figures look like ants to my eyes, but yours look at least 15mm. Detail is excellent – well done.

Man I am impressed. Congratulation. I feel like I want to finish my 1st/2nd 6mm Bull Run project.
I love the little details like the abandoned cart. I love your ancients too.

Mike, you are a maniac!

Those have to be some of the best painted 6mm I have ever seen. I have to say that the basing really makes them too.

No, to hell with that, I seriously don't think I have ever seen better! The way they stand up under close up photos is truly remarkable!

I guess its also a tribute to Adler and Pendraken!

I think its interesting how you have gone for the mass effect by mounting successive lines of troops rather than relying on the block effect people tend to get from Baccus figures cast in strips.

The Adlers obviously allow more detailed work and give a roundness to the units that with the outstanding paint jobs, make them look like larger scale miniatures fresh from the Shrinking Machine!

Genuinely outstanding!

Thanks for the comments, everyone! Now you all have to go do 6mm Napoleonics so that you can inspire me too…

Glenn – I'm in Halifax, unfortunately. 'Twould be a bit of a long drive to Toronto!

What's an entire continent? You Canadians are going soft" :o)

Khusrau24 Mar 2010 6:17 a.m. PST

I hate you.. you seem to be able to paint 6mm to a standard I struggle with at 15mm… but beautiful.
