I am looking for a set of ECW compatible skirmish rules. Emphasis on fun and simplicity. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Always go back to "Once upon a time in the west country" and it's expansions for skirmishes in the British Civil Wars.

Seconded "Once upon a time in the west country"; hard to beat system!

Thirded (?) Can also use 'Gloire' for a more role playing oriented (and few figures) game. Scripted mini-scenarios could be used to form a campaign for your 'hero' and his/her merry, or dour, band.

Interesting, never thought of them :)

I will check them out.

"Once upon a time in the west country". Fourthed? "Gloire" from Rat Trap is more detailed but also fun. Finally, "Blood and Swash / Thunder and Plunder" by Buck Surdu and Christopher Palmer

Once upon a time in the west country.

Fantastic simply set of rules. Had some real great games with them. Funnist was the game where the dismounted 3/4 plate cavalry guy walked down the centre of a village street with a grenadoe. With every one firing at him. He made it tossing the grenade into the objective and it failing to go off.
It was funny to us!

Hey, anyone 'backdated' Once UPon a Time, or other for 16th century? Looking at running a Border Reivers game and I'm struggling to find rules…
