Hello Everyone! Does anyone out there know what colors/method Chris Adcock uses to paint the flesh on his Samurai? If not, what colors/methods do you use? Cheers! Larry |

I bought the Reaper Master Series golden skin triad. start with the darkest color (golden shadow?), apply Citadel Ogryn Flesh Wash, then really thin the colors down and apply thin layers. I usually don't use the highlight at all in that set, it's a step too far above Golden Skin. For variety or female figures, I start at the middle color and mix a highlight of about 1 part mid, 1 part highlight, and one part water. Unless I'm doing 15mm figures. That's when I use the middle tone and just wash it with a mix of sepia ink, Future, and water. I generally don't try to highlight faces in 15mm. |

Sounds like a good time for someone to post the link to the flesh tone race page. VR James Mattes |

hi correus, saw this thought id answer,i actually dont have a set palate when painting flesh for the samurai,or any other flesh for that matter ,but i can give you a sense of the process,i start with a dark tone usually citadel beastial brown with about 1/3 cote d arms leather brown,or simular yellowish tone, base colour could be cote d ,arm wood brown/or hairybrown,(a point to add here is that japanese skin tones do vary ,so i have a few national geographics etc to look at for various tones)i then just tone up with thin coats of the chosen colour with white ,there could be five or more shades,it just carries on until im happy with the effect ,i then wash with the chosen tone and high light again,i imagine any type of paint will do ,these are just the ones i tend to have, hope that helps a bit ,regards chris |

Hi Correus, This is my method for painting far eastern flesh. I basecoat using any fairly pale flesh colour, GW elf flesh is good. Then I apply very thin wash of a medium brown. After that, I build up highlights using the pale flesh colour with a little Vallejo sand colour. It works really well in 15mm! Cheers Ace |
