I am making a 15 mm Renaissance era Ottoman army. The army list calls for heavy cavalry comprised of Serbian Nobles. Does anyone know what these guys would look like? Does anyone know of any 15 mm figures that I could use for them. I can't find them in any of my reference books. I would appreciate a picture or any information that would be help.

Which time period you are after, more exactly?

Sounds like early 1400's when the Serbs would be equipped more or less like Western knights. I'm not aware they would factor in after about 1500.

Just use late medieval knights, ie Italian, German. WoR figures, as most nobility across Europe wore basically then same styles after about 1420-ish

Essex makes a nice eastern medieval range in 15mm including Serbian Empire. Page 5 of the medival section of their online cataloge has them. I believe EMED 64 through 74 would have what you want. There is some difference in shields between these and western knights/nobles.

Balkan Yaya infantry.

Almost tempting enough to build an army around

Essex 15mm is what I used for my Serbs- full Western panoply/ Coats of arms available on the net… They sure were very useful for Bayazid esp at Ankara- riding through Timur's best cav like hot knife through butter…

Sorry for the delay in my reply. Thanks to you all for your suggestins and advice. My Ottoman army will be for the c1500 period. Would Serbian Nobles still be around?

No, Serb armoured nobility (vlastela) did not serve in the army in that period. In two periods they served in the Ottoman army -- in the late 14th to early 15th centuries (think Nicopolis to just beyond Ankara) and then in the 1440s, during a succession dispute.
