My Old Glory Army membership expires just before Cold Wars (figures!) so I wanted to make one last purchase and plan on getting into ECW via the DBA-RRR rules.

I've only just begun to research the period but since DBA-RRR is limited to 12 stands of 3-4 figures it looks like I can just get packs of pikes and musket in a couple of hat styles (Montero, Helment, Soft Hat) and be done with it – same for Cavalry, EXCEPT….

I see on the lists for Early Royalist and Parliament one of the (g) options is Pi (Pistols). The Parliament lists the Pi as being Curassier, the Royalist doesn't say. Also, the New Model Army list has 3 Pi listed as "Horse". So my question is what Old Glory 25's ECW range would best represent these Pi-classed troops? I suppose for the Curassiers, since there was only 1 Curassier unit I could just buy the OG Curassier pack and be done with that (even if they aren't holding Pistols). But what about the other Pi-Cav? I suppose I could get any type of Cav and just state they are Pistol troops but it would be nice if they were actually holding Pistols so it was obvious from looking at them. Perhaps the OG Cav DOES have some pistol carrying troops but the descriptions (and lack of photos) doesn't say.

Thanks in advance for any advice. BTW – I know about the wonderful Perry and Renegade ECW ranges but my 40% off is too good to pass up and I've heard that the OG25 ECW range is pretty nice.

Its been 5-6 years since I built mine, but if I recall correctly, the right arm is seperate,so you can give them a pistol. I think for DBA style rules, they really dont make a distinction between pistols and horse, theyre all classed as cavalry. The lists name them that way,as they are based on the DBR lists. Of course,if you wanted to expand to DBR or another system, you want the distinction, but it really isnt neccesary for DBA-RRR.

Skink

Thanks – although the DBA-RRR variant DOES add rules for a Pi base, as well as for Shot and Dragoons.

On the other hand, I need to figure out how to get four 28mm cav onto a 60mmx40mm base (it's a tight fit just to get 3 on).

Yes the arm is separate. I might be able to find my "bitz" bag o' arms so you could have an assortment if you wanted it. I'm done with my project and they are just taking up space. Let me look and let me know if you may be interested. BTW…this is a "gratis" deal…the more ECW players, the better!!!
