Music Video: Empress of Shadows

My first attempt at a historical music video, to promote interest in military history (and, indirectly, miniature wargaming!).

Here are some photos of a playtest I am doing for a planned ACW 1:600 miniature wargame at the Historicon convention in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, in late July.

Nice River effect, what did you use?

Yes, very effective. Is it a sheet of clear plastic, on top of something?

Very nice – looks like a lot of fun

I bought a long strip of a muddy-brown colored cloth from Wal-Mart to use as the base "river." Over time I might spray the middle a little darker shade for the channel. The glossy surface is a strip of clear vinyl, also from Wal-Mart.

Total price of both was about $22, plus tax.

The look is OK, and the two pieces are highly portable.

I use felt cut-outs for the "river banks," with tree stands from my 15mm gaming. Given time, I may carve some more realistic-looking river banks.

I also need to buy some 1:600 scale houses, a wharf, and other accessories.

Scott; very cool effect my friend…I am impressed…although I will be honest and say that when you post pics of your game room, that pic of "Old Abe" staring would creep me out….

I placed an order with Bay Area Yards today for several houses and a wharf kit; I should have them painted and ready to go for Historicon. Expensive little resin castings, but I saw in person at Fall In and thought they were really nicely done.

A very compelling effect. Some of the pictures look close to the real thing. Nicely done.

I find "Old Abe" to be inspiring :)

Very cool, thanks for sharing. This past weekend, my club played a very similar scenario using our river fleets for the first time. I'll post some pics when I get the chance.

Scott,
It's the best looking water I've seen yet for a wargame using miniature ships, especially for a muddy river! Abraham Lincoln has always inspired me!

Yes but what about those unpainted ship model Scott!
