I searched the TMP archives and was able to find a thread on the best glue for gluing msgnets to airplanes, but what is the best way to attach a little disc magnet to the top of a Litko flight stand pole?
Thanks for any help.

I would think Devcon epoxy? You have two different materials, and you need strength.

Epoxy is the only thing I've found that will really hold those slick nickel coated rare earth magnets. In some case (if a fuselage shape is rounded and for some reason I can't get in to file a flat spot) I'll tack the magnet in place with a tad of CA glue and then go back and reinforce the joint epoxy around the edges of the magnet. I figure the epoxy will hold on it's own, but also prevent the shear forces that cause the super glue to pop loose.

Thanks. I have several of the Wargames Illustrated Hueys and they have magnets to secure them tot he flight stands too. I was wondering what to use to attach them.

Battlefront seems to think that cyanoacrylate is sufficient for their turret magnets:

But as their site seems to be down today, and you won't be able to access this article, take it for what it's worth!

I use Gorilla Super Glue, it works great.

I use regular Gorilla Glue.

I don't do this a lot, but Zap-A-Gap seems to be getting the job done -- so far.

Another vote for Gorilla Super Glue.

I couldn't get a secure bond with superglue. Epoxy worked great.

I use the same method that BCantwell does. For the added strength. Robert

Super glue likes to have two very flush surfaces. Epoxy is more forgiving.

I have not tried Gorilla Glue.

I use epoxy on the planes and super glue on the flight stands. Odd one comes adrift every now and again but they are easy to stick back on.

I had used Zap-A-Gap previously but, the magnets would come off after a few gaming sessions. I have not had a problem with the Gorilla Super Glue.

Why are you gluing a magnet to an aircraft and ruin it's lines? Why not just glue a small piece of sheet metal to it and paint it to match the rest of the aircraft. That's what I did with my Battle of Britain aircraft and the magnets on the stand have no issues with holding the aircraft firmly.
