Hi I posed this question on the ancients board awhile back with few responses. So here goes, Warlord II is a set of Medieval to Renaissance rules by Trevor Halsall that continues on from his ancient set. Has any one tried these rules?

No.

Not I but would be interesting in hearing more about the rules. (i.e. basing, unit size, C3)

Never heard of them either. Has to be poor marketing, because I try to keep up with all the latest medieval/renaissance releases.

I would love to hear more details.

Ok same as the Ancient version responses. I have ordered them and will try to get around to some sort of review when I get them and try a game or two.

Its a good ruleset. I like it better then FoG and WAB. Its alittle more complex for some.
Pips for movement
Basing:DBM
Must keep track of Attrition Points: Get 4 or more take a stand
Combat: Add weapon type, armour difference, modifers to a dice roll. Duduct lower score from highest, look at chart and see what happenes.
Shooting:Its a dice roll plus mods, minus armour= number of hits.
There is more to it but thats it in a nut shell.

Thanks Rhammond
I am in the process of writing a review and will finish it once we play a test game.

Any update regarding a review yet? I have been looking at these rules on the Caliver/Partisan site, but haven't brought myself to purchase them yet…

Cheers

Hi Darren
I think we are scheduled to play a game at our club in a couple of weeks. What I have read has me intrested. I think they will give more detail than the upcoming FOG renaissance. Once you realize that the rules are not written in the now common informal chatty mode, rather it is a tool to used in gaming. This is like Trevors previous rules, the thing is that once you understand the layout and that they are not meant to be read from cover to cover but rather in sections they work very well. What I have read I really like, his command system is rather intresting and I think it captures the period but we shall see once we play. I am also going to vistit the Warlord game at Salute to get more insight. Will post once I have played.
