First glimpse of the wood-armoured nobility of the hegemonic Iroquois Confederacy,an army we are making for pre-European warfare (excepting the Scandinavian colonies I mean!)

The model is complete except for the plumes on his backshield and his quiver.  There will be three poses of nobles in armour, a chief holding a wampum belt, and probably six poses of basic warriors, two with club, two with bow, two with both.

We have some pre-contact iroquois in the War Eagle Design native Americans as well.

The sculpt looks very good.

I don't know if my reaction should be WOW! or SWEET!

lutonjames27 Jan 2010 2:28 p.m. PST

Cool! :)

Congratulations! It's mighty hard to find pre-FIW 15mm woodland Indians.

Any chance of a chief on a palanquin? I know it may not be a huge seller, but boy would it be handy!

RudyNelson, do you have a link my good man?

Cheers!

They can be seen (masters) on my Rudy nelson Facebook page.
They are a lot simplier easier to paint and are without the high detail of Khurasans.

SOLD!!!

Wow, great news. I'll pit them against Eureka's Mound Builders. Pre-Columbian era is fascinating

khurasanminiatures27 Jan 2010 10:31 p.m. PST

Hrothgar, thanks. They will actually be my third Pre-Colombian army -- I've already got Chichimecs and am working on getting the Chinantecs out next. The Chinantecs are done except for the nobles and the general.

Dale, grin . Not quite there yet, but the sculptor is really knocking them out so they should be available soon!

Chichimecs and Chinatecs. I'm starting to crave hot peppers, black beans, and tortillas…
Did the Chichimecs and Chinatecs fight each other?
Any ancient American army makes for interesting gaming.

The Iroquois are a must have due to my New York pride. Once, when I was a kid, I stumbled across archaeologists excavating an Iroquois supply cache on the banks of the Susquehanna River. The indians would sometimes stash corn and tools in hides as they paddled up and down the river. Sometimes they would not come back for them or possibly forgot where they put them.

Hrothgar Berserk28 Jan 2010 5:29 a.m. PST

Okay so the Chichimecs are northern 'barbarians' threatening the Mexica cultures, and the Chinatecs were tribes from Veracruz and Oaxa so interacting with the Mayans. Apocalypto.

khurasanminiatures28 Jan 2010 5:42 a.m. PST

Actually the Chinantecs (not Chinatecs) are more closely associated with the Mixtecs and Zapotecs, and of course with the hated enemy, the Aztecs (everybody hated them, basically).

Chinantecs and Chichimecs did not fight each other but both fought the Aztecs. They would be likely opponents in "theme" gaming though, as both were from the same time and general area. Sort of like feudal French versus medieval Hungarian -- not historical, but not far off.

Oh, outstanding!!!

I have to make some hard choices in which minis I will buy this year, but if the line is as magnificent as this one the Iroquois will definitely make the cut.

I remain tempted by the Chichimecs, but the FoG list for them just blows.

khurasanminiatures28 Jan 2010 12:09 p.m. PST

Actually Konkurur, James "Hammy" Hamilton, a prominent UK gamer, has had a close look at the Chichimec list and liked what he saw:

There are 2-3 posts there by him in which he explains his position.

Rudysnelson28 Jan 2010 1:56 p.m. PST

The FoG process was not one that focused on how to make an army formidable in the game. the first priority was historical justification for a troop type plus all its classification attributes.

The Chichimec was one of those lists which were discussed in detail. Several issues were addressed in these discussions.
james position was well defended by him during these discussions

After I've painted 200 or so odd figs from Falcon , I promise to buy some from Khurasanminiatures!

Hrothgar Berserk28 Jan 2010 4:25 p.m. PST

CHinantecs! That's why my google kept bringing up 'Do you mean China Tech?"

I'll end up collecting all these. My indians will generally fight historical opponents so I don't care wether they are good or bad in certain rules. It's not likely my Chichimecs will get ridden down by Cataphracts.

khurasanminiatures28 Jan 2010 6:54 p.m. PST

But Hrothgar, Hammy's been saying that the army in actually not a bad one at all, so you can buy without an inferiority complex! grin

KONKURUR28 Jan 2010 9:16 p.m. PST

What a horrid Barker flashback I just had.
