Glider infantry wore the same basic kit as the Infantry Divisions. Later in the war you would see some paratrooper stuff like boots in the GI but standard issue was basic GI kit and color uniforms.

Info from the Osprey, Squadron/Signal and Time Life books.

Aeuuecurtiss blokes books are fine for D-Day, but didn't the American Glider boys go over to the paratroopers style uniform soon after? the green/gray with jump boots?

Oh, the Osprey orange bordered, ETO book is excellent for organisations and 'stuff'

"John's on target – during the Overlord landings, the glider troops were pretty much equipped exactly like their regular (or "leg") infantry counterparts. They weren't even considered true "airborne" by the paratroopers; they weren't authorized to wear jump boots nor to blouse their trousers, and were not given the extra $50/month hazard pay.
In July, '44, the glider-riders were finally given their bonus pay, and issued their "glider wings." At this time, the new garrison cap insignia – a round disk with both a parachute and glider within it – was introduced and worn by both paratroopers and glider infantrymen. Also, both the paratroopers and the glider infantrymen were issued M43's, including the new '43 "buckle boots", much to the consternation of the paratroopers.
A great online resource is Mark Bando's "Trigger Time," found at 101airborneww2.com

Yes, and no. As has been mentioned above, the airborne divisions were issued the M43 uniform and buckle boots between Overlord and Market-Garden, but these were not specifically "paratrooper" items. It was planned that the entire army would be re-uniformed with the M43s, but this did not happen before the end of the war. The airborne divisions were among the first to be issued the new uniforms. The only major difference between paratrooper M43s and the others issued was that the parachute regiments had their riggers sew extra thigh pockets onto the legs of the trousers.
