As an inspiration for getting my "paint on" this holiday season I have been playing a lot of this game:

It's got a great Stargrunt II style look to it and was the main inspiration for doing all my terrain and figs in a "Winter War" style.

I am using my 4' x 6' Zuzzy "Sulphur Fields" mat as my arctic Tundra base layer and all my terrain will be modular and go on top of that.

Love those walkers. I don't know if you ever had a chance to play Chrome Hounds, but running around in a walker is just too cool.

Sure did! Shame Chrome Hounds didn't do better in the market.

I am painting up Reaper CAV "Tiger" Mechs as my 15mm Urban walkers:

OW,

That was the game that inspired me to get into 15mm SF a little over a year ago. Have been building my forces around it (including using the larger CAV mechs as walkers, this was before CW and CMG came out with theirs). I had thought about doing winter based armies, but wanted a bit more variety in terrain and forces. I am looking forward to seeing how your winter board and terrain turns out. Started on my EU and PAC forces a year ago, but got sidetracked with a hectic class schedule. Will be finishing these forces up this month, then moving onto other armies.

European Union pretty much directly inspired from the game(few sample stands and vehicles sans decals):

PAC/Pan-Slav Federation, went away from grey on this army for a bit more variety:

Good luck with the project, will be following your efforts with interest!

Edit: Digging around that old album, there are several 15mm SF comparison pics from last year, including the unpainted CAV's if anyone is interested:

Those are great CW!

I hope to get my Arctic Mat finished by this coming weekend, so I'll try to post images after it's done.

I had thought about doing a general "Green" normal generic Camo set, but decided that you know, I WANTED it to stand out and be different. Also, i think, theming it has inspired me, as I have never done a complete arctic themed terrain set.

Good luck with yours, too! Put up more pics, man!

OW,

Your set-up looks great thus far! When I saw your post a few days ago concerning the platformer set I noticed the BF 2142 screen capture of the Verdun map and knew precisely the look you were going for! :-) From what you have thus far it looks as if you will be capturing the feel perfectly.

When I started this project last year I was only going to purchase two forces (EU and PAC), but as is prone to happen in our little hobby, went a little overboard and will now be doing EU, PAC, Chinese, North American Union, Islamic Caliphate and ANZAC armies. Definitely sticking with the 2142/SG2 hard SF feel for the army themes.

Good luck and keep us updated! BTW, did you pick up any of the CMG walkers? Those look to be perfect fits for the 2142 EU models.

Very nice looking figs and vehicles! I have utilized gray, green and brown as base uniform colors for my 15mm armies.

Thanks,

John
