I submitted my idea over 2 weeks ago to Liberty and Union but never have seen it approved/listed. Anyone know how long it takes? What I suggested was a dungeon building sprue, with walls, floors, doors, little decor items. |

This is a cool idea! I've used the Dwarven Forge as well as Hirst arts molds, but a plastic set will have advantages in durability as well as transportability! Damon. |

That sounds like a fantastic idea, would be really interested in a set like that. |

Sci-fi floor and walls would be good, too. |

Any type of terrain kits would be cool. |

AFAIK they are still having a very large back-log of submissions to handle for the League list. |

WF has put a freeze on submitted ideas while they try to catch up their backlog
Guess they were not expecting so much so fast

link Fast, convenient, portable, inexpensive
the dungeon terrain I always wanted. So much so that I had to design it myself. :) |

I was told a submission of mine was accepted back at the beginning of the year; it's still not on the list. I'm okay with that, because they do have a huge backlog of stuff to go through. I'd rather they clear as much of that out as they can, as it's hard for any one item to stand out even within a sub-section. I think it is time they weed out a few of the obvious duds, though. It seems a time limit to reach a certain standing of pre-orders (say 50% in 4 months) might be in order. |

Howard from WF here. Yes, we put a moratorium on new submissions a while ago. If we need to make that completely clear on the site, we'll do so. We were absolutely snowed under with submissions, and at the same time quite a lot of things moved rapidly towards 100%. That was great, of course, except that as a very, very small company (It's now five people, mostly part-timers, in different cities) with the kind of massive budget that means we have to sell a lot of product 1 to finance product 2 and move ahead on product 3 --- well, you get the picture. I think it's generally understood that plastic models are hugely expensive at the 'front end', so that's an issue. We also lost (or at least mislaid) our data entry person, whose real life and family priorities quite reasonably came first. So, we are planning on doing a major revision of the whole process, sorting out the real non-starters, and blending those entries that duplicate one another. As to the dungeon builder idea ---- well, I like it a lot! |

That does sound interesting. I've seen the Perry's Miniatures Civil War House in plastic, and it's great. Love to see more manufacturers try this technology for terrain

To ask a dumb question: Isn't the business model on this that X minimum number of pre-orders are sold AND paid for up front? That is, once a model has enough people saying they want it, the next step is enough people have to actually pony up the cash to fund sculpting and molds, etc. ? |
Xintao | 29 Nov 2009 12:32 p.m. PST |
It's not paid for upfront. I've signed up for 2 sets, Zombies and Vikings. I did not pay for either till they were cast. They are looking for a commitment or interest level. That said PLEASE bump this idea to the top the "backlog" I think this idea would have lots interest. Esp Sci-fi walls/floors. Interior and exterior. Cheers, Xin |

Id be interested in seeing what they could do with this idea

Thanks Xintao. I thought folks already had to chunk down their coin (or at least part of the price) ahead of time. Hats off to the manufacturer, then. |

You might even ask Bruce Hurst to do the sculpts for you – not only because he has experience with that subject, but also so that they could fit in with his products. |
