Hi all I'm pleased to provide you with the first views of Critical Mass Games' new 15mm Sci Fi Mercenaries range, available from 21st December! link These miniatures will make excellent alien characters, bounty hunters, assassins, Starport denizen and the low-lifes of a thousand worlds. They are a real step forward for 15mm Sci Fi especially in terms of skirmish, roleplay and individual character based games. Cheers Mark |

Mark, do you know who sculpted those? Because as you know, I have something extremely similar coming out in a few weeks. So close in fact that I'm kind of shocked! |
infojunky | 21 Nov 2009 10:11 p.m. PST |
Some French Guy I think, he posted pics of his greens on the 15mmSF Yahoo list. Will look and see if I can find his name. |

Pierre_François Jacquet is the gents Name he is on the the Yahoo list, here is what showed us in August. link |

Yes, PF made my alien mercs too. On closer examination I see that mine are not the same race as the models Mark has on his blog. |

Khurasan: "Because as you know, I have something extremely similar coming out in a few weeks." What's coming out? Dan |

More 15mm stuff keeps rolling out! Thanks, John |

Is indeed Pierre_François Jacquet ! Yes, PF made my alien mercs too. On closer examination I see that mine are not the same race as the models Mark has on his blog. Will compliment each other then. Cheers Mark |

Funny situation. There is more 15 mm goodnes making companies than good 15 mm sculptors on the market ;> PS: Khoursan – forget the mercs, and fetch more Kittens !! |

Honestly, I think that mercs would be a great way to showcase new alien designs. You could feature individuals or small groups of aliens "operating outside their regular spheres of influence" as mercs or explorers. If a particular alien proves popular you could then expand on that alien type and do their regular army or add more mercenary assets. -Eli |

Excellent 15mm aliens, will look forward to ordering some, will they be available in the UK Mark? cheers Neil |

Hi Neil Critical Mass Games are a UK company. The Merc range will be available to order on 21st December. I have some pre-release packs to give away, so keep an eye on Dropship Horizon this week for details. Cheers Mark |

"Honestly, I think that mercs would be a great way to showcase new alien designs." Couldn't agree more Eli. |

These minis will compliment AE Bounty when it is released! :D |
Eli Arndt | 22 Nov 2009 5:23 p.m. PST |
Except that they are 15mm. Isn't AE bounty 28mm? |
TheCaptainGeneral | 22 Nov 2009 5:44 p.m. PST |
From what I have read you can use any minis. |
Eli Arndt | 22 Nov 2009 8:55 p.m. PST |
That is true of any system really when it comes down to it. Generally speaking if somebody names a game designed with an associated set of minis they are referring to. No biggy, just my initial gut response. -Eli |
Cacique Caribe | 22 Nov 2009 9:49 p.m. PST |
Wow. Those look so, so nice!!! link Dan |
TheCaptainGeneral | 22 Nov 2009 11:29 p.m. PST |
No worries Eli:) I am just thinking of how to cut costs on my student budget! |
Eli Arndt | 22 Nov 2009 11:58 p.m. PST |
TheCaptainGeneral, Good for you! Don't let the man tell you how to play your games. I've pretty much moved to 15mm myself. I may venture into 28mm again, but am always giving it the 15mm try first. Unless it's 1/1200 VSF wars! -Eli |

Ah, good, I was hoping that Pierre François Jacquets' stuff would see the production! Very cool designs, and opens up whole new avenues for 15mm gaming- they would be excellent as RPG characters, for starters. -Will |
javelin98 | 23 Nov 2009 7:29 a.m. PST |
Those are great! And some of those merc races would make for excellent stand-alone races in their own right. |
Grabula | 23 Nov 2009 7:29 a.m. PST |
I love what critical mass has put out so far and those mercenaries look great. however, is up with those merc recon drones? Not a fan of those, can't see myself adding them to my current range. I AM really excited about the protolenes though! |
the evil morlab | 23 Nov 2009 8:46 a.m. PST |
i'm the opposite. i like the drones a lot, and don't like the protolenes, which look to me like posed gi joes. viva la difference. |
Grabula | 23 Nov 2009 10:28 a.m. PST |
The drones just don't look like a critical mass product to me. The quality doesn't match up to their usual stuff. |
the evil morlab | 23 Nov 2009 10:36 a.m. PST |
neither do the mercs though, they look nothing like the protolenes or ark guys |
Grabula | 23 Nov 2009 10:39 a.m. PST |
might be a different sculptor but I like the mercs. The difference probably isn't as apparent on those, to me anyway. I think the problem is CMG tanks look CAD drawn and printed, these look sort of roughly hand sculpted, mostly from green stuff. While I realize the difficulties in making molds around other material, styrene would look much better, or atleast brass. |
Grabula | 23 Nov 2009 10:44 a.m. PST |
It's good to hear there are tons of 15mm stuff being produced! Once my terrain is complete – spring/summer – I'm hoping to do some vehicles I'd like to get out there for production. |
the evil morlab | 23 Nov 2009 10:48 a.m. PST |
this stuff doesnt really match at all with the other CGM soldiers but i like it anyway. the drones are small and really not that different from a guy in power armour so i like that they look the same. the protolenes fit with the ark dudes but they are funny looking. oh well, one man's chowder is another man's something else, or something like that. |
