Hi,

I had an idea for long : One badly wounded soldier, fallen on the ground, one of his comrades on his side, sustaining his head while a third one, is kneeled close to them worrying and proposing his water can…

I called it "brothers in arms".

With Victrix providing multi-parts 28mm, and the spare remaining from previous boxes I buit, I decided to give it a go.

Here is a picture of what it was at the very beginning :

Here are few pictures of where I am today.
The global idea :

The wounded (which mod is completed):

It's the first time I use green stuff in such an ambitious project. So far, I only had used it for minor modifications. However, I find the result encouraging.

I've started a thread on my blog on the topic.

First two posts can be read here…

… and here :

Don't hesitate to give me comments, advices or constructive criticisms. As I said, I'm far being a green stuff guru and am on the learning curve.

Cheers,

Bruno.

That looks excellent so far. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

I think I would remove the center, wounded guy's headgear and have it laying nearby. it seemd a little crowded with it on his head.

Also the legs of the guy holding his head look a little odd.

Otherwise it is looking very nice.

Nice job. The smoothing of greenstuff is a real bear.

Hi,

Thanks for encouraging me.
The legs of the guy holding the head seem a little odd because of the size of the testing base. I find them looking natural when the two minis are side to side on a flat ground.

About the headgear, I agree with you, but I should have thought to it before. Now the holding arm is done, removing the headgear would be a bit too difficult. For me, this diorama is a challenge, really. So, I would prefer to avoid complexifying it again and again.

Next time, I will better think about "composition" and homogeneity before starting, but I have to finish this one first.

Cheers,

Bruno.

Looks great. Would make an excellent wounded marker so not only is it a cool diorama, it could be functional as well.

skinkmasterreturns20 Nov 2009 9:22 a.m. PST

That is some excellent work,I would love to see it when its completed!

tgreeley9120 Nov 2009 9:58 a.m. PST

Great job. And it could be a great objective marker.

mweaver20 Nov 2009 4:14 p.m. PST

Very nice! I look forward to seeing the completed work, Bruno!

Finished piece is not yet, but however, here is a picture of the two "brothers" just painted, just put on the top of a wargamming hill (not the definitive base).

Seeing how the GS would give back details once painted was diificult to me, so I put an undercoat… and then… once dried… it was too late to stop.

I saw I made mistakes. That's cool : I'm learning…

Here is a post about it :

Thanks all. I have completed the base, the knelt ;-) soldier is under coated and waiting for his paint. I hope I will be able to advance on this during the week, and probably, it will be all done this week-end.

Cheers,

Bruno.

petit tondu28 Nov 2009 9:04 a.m. PST

Thanks for your comment, but I'm only doing miniatures as a hobby.
It's so much pleasure looking at them for the time spent, that I could not sold them.

Stunning. You are to be congratulated and admired in equal measure. Very well done!

petit tondu03 Dec 2009 12:31 p.m. PST

Thanks all,

Currently I am back to pure wargamming stuff : 6 mm napoleonics. Next transformation will come after.

I have some ideas…

… will let you know.

However, I hope this little thing will encourage others to give mini transformation a try. With plastics (Victrix and Perry as well) it is easy and not too expensive.

Cheers,

Bruno.

You know this site just seems to attract the best of the Hobby? Every now and again you come accross a Picture or idea from someone, that really rocks your world?

It might be a Beautifully painted regiment of Perry Plastic Hussars or an entire diaroma, but this post inspired me too.
Now I have yet another "Project" to do and this Great work by Bruno has really made my night.
Thanks for the inspiration and sharing. Cant wait to see your next one's

Cheers
