Hey, I'm looking for a SF skirmish set for use with singularly based 15mm figures and I've read that FWC has a set of skirmish rules in the back of the book. I was wondering if anyone who had played them could give their opinion? Do the unit creation rules work with the skirmish game? How many pages do the rules cover? In short are the skirmish rules alone worth the price of the book? |

The skirmish rules themselves are only a handful of pages in the back, but thats because it is mainly how to mod the main rules for more detailed encounters. I too bought this with (28mm) skirmish in mind, though I use it for BKC skirmish. So yeah I bought this book solely for the skirmish rules too. I am NOT disappointed. I have had a few dozen fun games so far, with plenty more planned. Maybe even try some Sci-fi skirmish in the future. I did go with the cheaper Lulu copy though, not the full color gloss. One thing that took me a few minutes to understand when making firgure stats, only pay the points for "normal mass battles" ranges. Then double the range for skirmishs. Does that make sense? Of course with 15mm you might not want to bother altering range anyways. |

I like the FWC skirmish rules and use 15mm scale. I use the the ranges as stated in the book and do not double the ranges. My TO&E usually are at company/platoon levels with the CO the platoon command and the squads leaders as HQ. LOVE IT! Some of us in my club bought the rulebook primarily with the standard rules in mind, but now we play the skirmish rules almost exclusively. They're fast, simple, flexible, and adaptable to a wide variety of situations. It's a lot of fun. |

I believe there is an after action report called surgical strike on the publishers web site. |

This sounds good, but why don't BKC and CWC have the same skirmish rules in the back? I've got both of those!! |

Maybe because it hadn't been thought of until FWC. You can actually use the same rules to model modern combat as well. Use the rules for designing your own forces and put together a skirmish force based on an existing army. |

SOLD! Thanks guys. The battle report that commanderroj refers to is on this page: link Number 57, it is rather nice. |

I just pulled mine out again after reading that battle report. Thanks, John |
