Let's turn this into a game of sorts. Each of us provides a link or two to images of alien plant concepts that could inspire future miniature figure sculptors. I'll start: picture picture link Now . . . What alien plant concepts have YOU found in your wanderings of the Internet? Thanks. Dan |

I don't have any photos of them yet, but I've been taking the inside stem with the tuft (flower) from Garlic bulbs & painting them up in various tints of red & purple. They truly look alien Skal, Sven |

Sorry for no pic for this just a concept. I loved the idea from the Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual. It was that the plant life on a planet they fought on was not based on chlorophyll based photosynthesis but another process that made all the vegetation yellow. So all the Marine vehicles operating on that planet were painted canary yellow. Made me think how far a gamer would go. To paint their SF vehicles yellow, play on a yellow mat, populating the table with yellow plants. |

Socorta Island is crazy cool Madagascar is also pretty good in this regard, and New Caledonia isn't anything to sneer at. Temperate rain forests are also good for "Earthly weird", I especially recall seeing some spectacular moss formations from South America. As for artists, Tim White has some nice science fantastic plantlife in his paintings: tim-white.co.uk |
